New Donald Trump movie

I’ve been auditioning for television and film roles for three decades and I still get the willies when I have to get up in front of total stangers, i.e. casting directors, and show how well I can deliver the lines I just memorized while showing off my incredible thespian qualities.

Usually it’s whether your hairline is what they envision the character to have or if your eyes go well with your suit. I used to take it quite personally when I didn’t get an audition when I thought I did so well. Then I started realizing it might not have anything to do with my performance per se. A lot of the time it’s merely a look.

I used to get so excited when I felt I nailed an audition and then I would never hear anything about it. The old saying is definitely true: “Don’t call us…we’ll call you”. Then I would end up getting a part from an audition in which I thought I had absolutely tanked!

My agent called today. That last audition? I got the part of a reporter in the new Donald Trump movie. Must have been my suit.
