Theatre Transformation

There’s a production house that’s actually an old movie house that opened in Toronto in 1927. These architectural and cultural time capsules are becoming harder to find. However, the owners of the Regent theatre discovered a clever way to subsidize the costs of their old landmark by letting Theatre ‘D’ Digital utilize the balcony along with the big screen to do their engineering and mixing. The most spectacular screening room outside Hollywood!

This picture was taken from the balcony seats facing the front of the theatre. The movie screen is at least 80 feet behind me! The engineers use it to cut video and film. A production facility by day. A facility that shows productions evenings and weekends.

This is also the venue where I’ve been supplying the voice overs for the SPEED TV program, ‘Tuner Transformation’. I was hired as voice talent for the show’s second season. It’s a 60-minute hi-performance make-over for street machines.

Hey! Ror voicing a show with engines roarin’, in theatre from “The Roaring 20’s”. (Thinkin’….always thinkin’)

Even cooler? I went to this theatre as a kid! The price of a ticket, popcorn and pop back then wouldn’t even buy a pack of Twizzlers today!
